Welcome to the Void Ward dev blog. Void Ward is a browser-based space sandbox MMO we're building in the open, and this is where we'll write about how it comes together.

About Void Ward

Void Ward draws on EVE Online, Pardus, and classic Nintendo RPGs. We're building one persistent universe where:

  • Every warp gate you fund creates a permanent new sector, so the universe expands when you push the frontier
  • Player-driven economy with mining, refining, trading, and crafting
  • Skill progression from 1-99 in Mining, Combat, and Exploration
  • Soft-loss PvE: lose cargo and durability when you're beaten, but keep your ship and skills
  • One persistent world for all players

Technology

A few of the pieces under the hood:

  • Laravel 12 with plain controllers and Blade
  • A queue-driven game engine, with no traditional game loop
  • WebSocket broadcasts over Reverb
  • Browser-first, with mobile to follow

Development Progress
